Felipe Abreu

Workshop dates:12 and 13 April 2025

We are delighted to welcome back Felipe Abreu for his third appearance at the London Forró Weekend festival! A dedicated teacher, dancer, and innovator, Felipe has been immersed in forró since the age of 13, when he first fell in love with the dance in his hometown of Salvador, Bahia. By 15, he was teaching private lessons, and at 17, he began leading group classes.

Felipe is the founder of Essência Forró, a school in Salvador that has become a hub for dancers of all levels. With over a decade of experience, Felipe’s approach blends technical precision, heartfelt passion, and a deep understanding of forró’s cultural roots. He is also pursuing a degree in dance at UFBA and works with seniors facing Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s through therapeutic dance programs.

Felipe’s international career has taken him to workshops and festivals across the globe, including extensive tours throughout Europe, Russia, Israel, the United States, and South America. His classes are known for their energy, connection, and emphasis on mutual learning between teacher and students.
