Marilia Cervi, a renowned forró teacher, choreographer, and dancer, will make her debut at the London Forró Weekend Festival this April.
Originally from São Paulo and now based in Lyon, France, Marilia has dedicated over 16 years to forró and Brazilian ballroom dance, with her career spanning teaching, performing, and community building.
Marilia’s accomplishments include winning multiple awards, participating in Brazil’s top ballroom dance congresses, competitive festivals, and television shows, and teaching in more than 20 countries worldwide. Since moving to France in 2017, she has been instrumental in developing the forró community through her work with Forró em Lyon, where she teaches, organizes events, and curates cultural experiences.
Known for her unique teaching approach, Marilia emphasizes the follower’s active expression, the value of communication in dance, and the importance of cultivating an intelligent and creative body.
