Pamela Barrón and Victor Maia are two of Brazil’s most celebrated forró instructors, known for their passion, expertise, and extensive contributions to the world of forró, with years of experience both in Brazil and internationally. We are excited that they will be joining us during the spring 2025 edition of London Forró Weekend.
Pamela Barrón
A true lover of dance, Pamela began her journey at a young age with ballet, tap, jazz, and contemporary dance before falling in love with Brazilian partner dances. She specialises in forró pé de serra and samba de gafieira, and has been teaching at the prestigious Academia Lá na Dança since 2017. Pamela is a key figure in the growth of forró in Brasília, where she not only teaches but also produces major events such as the Workshop de Forró na Capital (WFC) and the Jack and Jill Forró Championship. She has toured extensively, sharing her expertise in countries including Germany, Austria, Denmark, France, the United States, Portugal, Switzerland, and Japan, among others. Pamela’s teaching style blends technical precision with heartfelt passion, making her an in-demand instructor at Brazil’s leading festivals such as Itaúnas and Rootstock.
Victor Maia
Victor’s dance journey began in 2003, when he started as a student at the Companhia de Dança Marcelo Amorim in Fortaleza. Over the years, he evolved from student to instructor, and in 2015, he opened his own school, Academia Lá na Dança, in Brasília. Specialising in forró and samba, Victor has been a finalist in the Brazilian Forró Championships and is a recognised figure in the Brazilian dance scene. He has produced and choreographed numerous dance shows and events, including the Workshop de Forró na Capital (WFC), which has become a cornerstone of Brasília’s forró culture. Victor has also taught and performed in cities around the world, including Paris, Berlin, New York, Tokyo, and São Paulo, always with a focus on elevating the authenticity and joy of forró.
A Unique Collaboration
As a couple and teaching partners, Pamela and Victor’s dynamic chemistry brings an exciting and harmonious approach to their classes. Together, they have cultivated a deep understanding of the rhythms, history, and technique of forró, which they share with students at all levels. Their work has earned them recognition not just in Brazil but across the globe, and this will be the first time they teach together in London.
